What is PPS AM230?
Spectrum PPS AM230 filament is based on the engineering polymer PPS, which features exceptional property stability even under long-term exposure to high temperatures. The material maintains its strength and rigidity even at temperatures exceeding 100 °C, with a softening point reaching 236 °C. Due to its chemical resistance, it is insoluble in acids, bases, and common solvents.
Another characteristic of this material is its inherent flame resistance, which is not dependent on additional flame retardants. Thanks to its high dielectric strength, the filament is suitable for electrical insulation, and its ability to adhere to silicone enhances functionality in applications requiring airtight joints.
Key Properties
- Thermal Resistance: HDT at 0.45 MPa reaches 129 °C, Vicat softening point is 236 °C.
- Chemical Resistance: Insoluble in concentrated acids, bases, and solvents.
- Mechanical Strength: Tensile strength 65 MPa, modulus of elasticity 3650 MPa.
- Electrical Insulation: High dielectric strength suitable for insulation applications.
- Dimensional Stability: Material shows minimal deformation during printing and under long-term load.
Printing Recommendations
To achieve optimal results when printing with Spectrum PPS AM230 filament, specific printer settings must be maintained:
- Nozzle Temperature: 300–330 °C
- Bed Temperature: 100–120 °C
- Heated Chamber: Actively heated to 60–80 °C
- Print Speed: 30–70 mm/s
- Cooling: Minimal (0–10%)
- Nozzle: Hardened steel or ruby nozzle recommended due to material's abrasive properties.
- Storage: Filament should be stored in a dry place at 18–25 °C. If moistened, dry for at least 3 hours at 90 °C.
Applications
Spectrum PPS AM230 material finds use in many industrial sectors:
- Electronics: Manufacturing of insulation components with high dielectric strength.
- Automotive Industry: Parts resistant to chemical and thermal effects.
- Industrial Tools: Components exposed to aggressive chemicals.
- Precision Engineering: Active parts of devices requiring dimensional stability.
