Professional Lab PLA wood

PLA Wood combines the reliability of standard PLA with an authentic wood effect. Thanks to the wood fibre content, prints have a natural matte surface and fine texture, and can be further finished – sanded, stained, and varnished to achieve the desired shade and surface effect. The material has a low tendency to warp and adheres well to the build plate, so printing is predictable even on open printers.

Due to the fibre additive, the material is partly abrasive and more sensitive to flow with fine nozzles. For smooth feeding and to minimise clogging, it is advisable to use a 0.6 mm nozzle and avoid extremely fine layers for detailed models. Small functional parts can be printed, but due to the nature of PLA and the embedded fibres, PLA Wood is primarily intended for aesthetic, non-load-bearing components.

Properties and recommendations

  • Wood-like appearance and texture, matte surface; possibility of sanding, staining, and varnishing.
  • Easy printing like PLA, low risk of deformation (warping).
  • Abrasiveness: slower wear of brass nozzles; for long prints consider hardened steel.
  • 0.6 mm nozzle recommended; 0.4 mm may be borderline for fine models.

  • Prototypes of parts with a wood appearance.
  • Props, education, gift and interior items.

Printing parameters

  • Nozzle temperature: 190–230 °C
  • Bed temperature: 40–60 °C
  • Nozzle: recommended 0.6 mm
  • Cooling: on (medium to higher)
  • Speed: rather medium; for very fine details slow down

Compatibility with AMS and AMS Lite

  • AMS: the spool is dimensionally compatible (width approx. 59 mm); be aware of material abrasiveness during long-term feeding.
  • AMS Lite: this spool has a larger centre hole diameter (75 mm). For trouble-free use, it is recommended to print an adapter.
