Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro
Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro is a four-slot system for automatic filament feeding and management, designed for Bambu Lab printers. It is ideally suited for multi-color printing, working with different materials, or situations where you need to store spools in an enclosed space with humidity control. Compared to the previous AMS generation, it offers active drying up to 65 °C, airtight storage, and faster filament feeding.
Why Choose AMS 2 Pro
- 4 spool positions - you can have up to four different filaments ready in a single unit.
- Active drying up to 65 °C - helps keep filament in optimal condition before and between prints.
- Airtight storage - the enclosed design minimizes moisture exposure to the filament.
- RFID for original Bambu filaments - the system automatically reads information from RFID tags, simplifying material setup.
- Faster feeding - a brushless servo motor increases filament handling speed compared to the previous generation.
- More durable filament inputs - ceramic-reinforced inputs better withstand long-term use.
Filament Drying and Storage
AMS 2 Pro combines a filament feeder, enclosed storage, and active drying. The drying module reaches a maximum temperature of 65 °C and effectively removes moisture during the drying process. It is particularly suitable for common filaments and for keeping spools in good condition during extended storage.
For technical materials that require higher drying temperatures, 65 °C may not be sufficient. If you need to dry more demanding materials at higher temperatures, we recommend choosing the Bambu Lab AMS HT.
Compatibility and Expansion
AMS 2 Pro is designed for the Bambu Lab ecosystem. The specific connection method depends on the printer model and the number of connected units. In some cases, additional accessories may be required, such as a filament buffer, AMS Hub, 4-in-1 PTFE adapter, or a power adapter for drying.
By combining multiple AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT units, the capacity can be expanded to up to 24 filaments depending on the configuration. This option is especially appreciated during demanding multi-color or multi-material printing.
Important Limitations
AMS 2 Pro is not a standalone filament dryer. To activate drying, it must be connected to a powered-on printer via a 6-pin Bambu Bus cable, and the printer must be in filament drying mode. For X1/P1 series models, drying typically requires a separate power supply and appropriate connection via a buffer or hub.
