Heat break is typically a threaded metal tube that mechanically and thermally separates the cold part of the hotend from its hot part. The material from which the Heat break is made is very important. The aim of its choice is to achieve the lowest possible thermal conductivity, which in particular eliminates retraction problems. Equally important is the mechanical processing and especially the internal smoothness for a resistance-free passage of the filament.
