Nylon PA12 is a technical polymer used mainly in the automotive, clothing and engineering industries, which is particularly suitable for mechanical and technical applications due to its resistance to temperatures, alcohols and chemicals. It is extremely durable, strong and unbreakable. Further processing can be easily achieved with metal tools and paints, making it even more versatile and functional.

Everfil PA12 nylon is perfectly suited for tarring and has no tendency to fade. It is one of the few 3D printing materials that can be post-processed with metalworking tools.

It is an incredibly flexible material - it will elongate up to 50% before breaking. However, the filament is not resistant to concentrated alkalis and acids.

Nylon fiber absorbs moisture fairly quickly, so it should be stored in a sealed bag with a moisture absorber and kept in the refrigerator before reuse. We recommend drying before reuse.

Properties

  • High layer strength and cohesion
  • Flexible
  • High resistance to wear, abrasion and scratches
  • Good resistance to chemicals
  • Low material creep

Applications

  • Mechanical parts: guide rails, gears
  • Technical elements: bearings, nuts
  • Electronics components: electronics covers and end caps
  • Consumables: brackets, hooks
  • Components for 3D printers: hotend parts

Printing parameters recommended by the manufacturer

The following parameters are only defaults and should be adjusted to your specific 3D printer and printing conditions for best results.

  • Nozzle temperature: 255 - 275 °C
  • Pad temperature: 90 - 105 °C
  • Closed chamber: essential
  • Fan: 0 - 10%
  • Flow rate: 95 - 105%
  • Surface: glass, PVA, adhesive

Technical information

  • Color: Black
  • Diameter: 1.75 mm
  • Weight: 1000 g
  • Diameter tolerance: +/- 0.03 mm
  • Melting point: 178 °C
  • Hardness: 71D
  • Drying conditions: 70 °C/4 h

Storage

The filament is highly hydrophobic and we recommend storing it in a cool, dry environment, ideally in a vacuum-sealed silicate container. Depending on the storage method, we recommend drying the filament in a dryer before further use.

Packaging

Wound on a spool, vacuum packed in a plastic bag with a moisture absorber, placed in a box.
