Voron TAP kit V2 with V2OptoTap PCB

Voron Tap is a new z-probe solution that uses the contact of the print head nozzle with print surface. Entire print head moves and Z position is measured by optical sensor. Like Voron Klicky probe, it can operate reliably on any print surface.

Extreme precision
Any printing surface / build plate
High durability, high temperature operation
Z endstop elimination

Extreme precision

With a well-built Voron printer reliable Z-measurement accuracy of up to 0.4 µm (0.0004 mm) can be achieved.

Any printing surface

Any surface can be safely measured with Tap. Print on PEI, glass, aluminum plate, garolite, powder surface... it doesn't matter. Even printing surfaces with magnetic fluctuations are not affected by Tap.

High durability, high temperature operation

Unlike mechanical microswitch of Klicky probe, TAP probe uses light to detect contact and does not wear out. The sensor in the Tap system is rated for operation at temperatures from 70 to 100°C and, unlike a contact switch or inductive probe, will not wear out over time. Even if you raise the temperature in the chamber to 100 °C, it will still operate accurately and reliably. This solution has been tested by the Voron team and the community on hundreds of 3D printers for thousands of hours, including printing as part of the PIF program. Some test printers have even had more than 1,000,000 probe cycles for durability testing.

No complex macros

Significantly easier to use Klipper macros without the need for complex tunning.

Elimination of Z endstop

No need for a separate Z endstop. Once the offset is configured, it will apply without significant Z offset shift. For different filament types(print temperatures), it is common to need to slightly fine-tune the offset configuration (degree depends for example on nozzle material used).
